Taunagh National School Parent Association

Taunagh Parent Association was formed in 2011. In brief, a Parent Association is a structure through which the parents / guardians of pupils can work together for the best possible education for their children. All parents / guardians are automatically association members. Research has shown that increased parental involvement in school life leads to an improved educational outcome for students of all ages.

The Parent Association works with the Principal, staff and the Board of Management to build effective partnership between home and school. Although the Parent Association may organise many activities, these activities should all assist the
association to achieve its two main roles within the school:

To work in partnership with the Principal, Board of Management and the whole school community for the betterment of the children in the school.

To support and empower parents to be active in the best interests of their children’s educational lives.

One of the benefits of a small school is that the children and their families can get to know each other well. The Parent Association facilitates this contact and offers ways for parents to be informed about and get involved in some school activities – arts projects, sports day, open day, school clean ups, the garden etc. Showing our children that we are interested and involved in their school lives has a positive impact on their attitude to school and learning and helps to form additional links within the school community.
All parents are automatically members in the association and the active involvement of any parent is always welcome!
