In Taunagh N.S., all the children work very hard on their handwriting and story writing skills. Congratulations to Clive Barlow in 4th class who came runner-up in the An Post Story Competition. He won a voucher for his efforts and €100 for the school. This is a wonderful achievement and recognises his presentation skills and the twist he put on the story of Michael Collins. We are one of three schools in Ireland who have had multiple winners in this national competition. In addition, the senior pupils took part in the Heritage 2030 Emoji Competition in conjunction with Sligo Education Centre. Sophie Swann and Ella K. Murray came first place in their categories for the emojis they designed to depict their understanding of our heritage. They won a €50 book voucher each and will go on to represent Sligo at regional level. Over the Easter holidays, seven pupils performed in the tin whistle band competition in Sligo Feis Ceoil and came in second place. We are very proud of all the children in our school and are delighted to celebrate the children’s achievements.
We have also been working with clay in art to create some beautiful pots.
